10-05-2021

Reading has many benefits, it teaches us new vocabulary, improves writing skills, focus and imagination. It also makes us smarter by improving our memory.

‘Joy of Reading’ was conducted  during online classes in Indian School Sohar on 25th & 26th April for Class – I & II respectively during their library period. The aim of  conducting this event was to develop comprehensive reading skills in children and young people and to promote the joy of reading through cooperation between school,  library and home.

The programme started with a message from the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma. She motivated the students to develop reading skills. She shared some tips for integrating technology with reading by introducing students to the concept of Book Tube, a book-specific You Tube community and its popularity. Also, she encouraged the students to make videos  on Bookshelf tours, read alongs, TBR video and Wrap-up videos and post them.

Our section Supervisor, Ms. Gauri Gadgeel also gave a short message to students on the importance of reading everyday.

The teacher incharge, Ms. Banumathy shared a presentation about the benefits of reading and how to become a smart reader to class teachers who in turn conducted this activity virtually.

Teachers also joined this event by reading their favourite story book during DEAR Time. The children were asked to Drop Everything And Read their favourite story book for joy. The active and enthusiastic participation by the students has made the programme a grand success.
