MOTHER TERESA BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

26-08-2021

Indian School Sohar virtually celebrated the 111th Birth Anniversary of Mother Teresa on August 26, 2021, not only with the purpose of paying homage to the noble soul but with the purpose of inculcating humanitarian values in the young minds also. The Special Class Assembly was organized by the English Department. The overwhelming participation of young students pointed out the influence of Mother Teresa and her ideals.

The programme aptly began with a thought: “Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies”, a well said quote of Mother Teresa. It was followed by A Glimpse through the Life of Mother Teresa with a part of her NOBEL Prize Acceptance Speech presented by P. Essakki Heeraa of Class VIII E. It threw light on the path that took her from humble beginnings to the zenith of glory through selfless service to God and fellow humans. The young students then explicated how Mother Teresa inspired them and exemplified that she is a true inspiration for mankind. The students costumed as Mother Teresa became cute replicas instilling thrill and happiness. The couplets written by the students of different classes and the beautiful poem Endless Echoes written and recited by Nithya Ajayan of XI A reflected their love and respect for her selfless service and love for humanity. The students expressed gratitude towards the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma, Vice-Principal, Dr. Vinu Kumar and Head of English Department, Mrs. Divya Johari for this great opportunity and the teachers-in-charge, Mrs. Shyma Muralikrishnan along with Mrs. Sherly Joseph & Mr. Deepak V. V., for the guidance, the other teachers of English Department & the student community for their support. The whole programme was adorably anchored by Serena Omar of VII F.

The assembly ended with a tribute to Mother Teresa through the short Poem “In Memoriam” invoking her help form heaven to become noble souls like her. She continues to spread the light of hope and peace in everyone’s heart and inspires the people all over the world to follow her example of untiring and humble services given to everyone. She goes on to remind us, “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other”.
