The National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29th August every year to mark the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, ‘The Wizard of Hockey’ regarded as the greatest field hockey player of all time. Indian School Sohar celebrated it in full fervour as it was Major Dhyan Chand’s 116th birth anniversary this year.
This year India was facilitated with 7 medals in Tokyo Olympic 2020. To celebrate their victory, the students of Classes II dressed up as Tokyo Olympic winners show casing their expertise and titled them as ‘The Future Olympians’.
A collaborative Zumba dance on 'Chak De India’ was beautifully presented by the enthusiastic students of Class VI. Senior Students performed their game skills under the Khelo India programme.
An Online Games Competition Musical Chair and Book Balance for the Teachers & staff was organized on 25th August 2021 on the virtual platform, co-ordinated by Mr. Gagandeep Singh. Teachers participated actively in the virtual platform. They displayed a commendable level of endeavour and enjoyed the games to the fullest.
The winners were awarded with medals by Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma on 26th August 2021.

A video presentation on the occasion was shown to the students during the third period on 29th August 2021.
The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma offered a floral tribute to the portrait of Major Dhyan Chand to pay respect. She appreciated the Physical Education Department for conducting such a memorable event.
