"A Little Progress Each Day Adds Up To Big Results."
With great vigour and enthusiasm, Indian School Sohar celebrated the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony on Saturday, 12th February 2022 at 9:30 a.m. in the school auditorium.
The main purpose of the function was to felicitate the students for their outstanding success in academics and sports achievements at school, national and international levels as well as to honour the staff members for their long and meritorious services at Indian School Sohar.
Mr. Abraham George, President, School Managing Committee was the Chief Guest. He addressed the gathering and spoke about how the parents and the community at large have added to the strength of the school by their constant support and active cooperation. His motivational speech encouraged the students, parents, teachers and everyone present at the function. He appreciated the Mahajan Community for the commendable and unceasing support provided to the school and also prized the school for the progress it has made.
The programme began by invoking God's blessings through the hymn 'Showers of Blessing'. This was followed by the felicitation of the toppers of Class X and XII examination for the session 2020- 2021. They were presented with gold coins, trophies and certificates.
Three girl students were felicitated with gold coins to encourage and keep them involved in playing cricket at various levels. They were selected in the Oman National Women’s Cricket Team and participated against Wanstead CC of UK in the T20 Cricket series from 16th January to 21st January 2022 at Al Amerat Cricket Ground Muscat, winning all the three matches.
Twelve staff members of the school were felicitated for their long and meritorious service at Indian School Sohar for serving the school with sincerity and dedication for ten, fifteen and twenty years. They were presented with mementos.
Task-driven, student-centric and dedicated Principal of Indian School Sohar, Mrs. Sanchita Verma received awards for various outstanding contributions in the field of academics for CBSE Schools and beyond. She has Co-authored " Pedagogical Leadership: A Handbook for Leading Learning in Schools", published by the Central Board of Secondary Education and National Institute of Educational Planning & Administration, New Delhi. She implemented and trained Principals of CBSE schools in India & abroad as well as of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. She has edited, and reviewed the Hindi version of the "Pedagogical Leadership: A Handbook for Leading Learning in Schools". She was an invited speaker on many educational panels and a CBSE resource person for the teachers and Principals. She was honoured by the Chief Guest, Mr. Abraham George for her commitment, hard work and loyalty.
The award giving ceremony had much meaning and significance as it gave an opportunity to recognize the success of the students who have excelled in academics and sports in spite of the challenges posed by the pandemic. The program anchored by Mrs. Indira Sukumaran, Supervisor & PGT Mathematics faculty took place marvelously because of the guidance and support of the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma and cooperation between the event organizers and the participants. The celebration ended with the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma proposing the vote of thanks.
