NATIONAL SPORTS DAY

The National Sports Day of India is celebrated on 29th August every year. The day marks the birth anniversary of hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand. He was born on 29th August, 1905 at Allahabad. In the year 1926, he was selected for the Indian Hockey Team for the tour of New Zealand and won many medals in International Tournaments and Olympics for our country. Dhyan Chand is regarded as the greatest field hockey player of all time.

To Commemorate the National Sports Day at Indian School Sohar, a special assembly was conducted by the Physical Education students of Class XII.

The assembly unfolded in stages. The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma showed respect to Major Dhyan Chand by offering flowers at the portrait as a tribute. A prayer song was sung by the students of Class IX followed by presentation of National sports day badges to the Principal, Vice-Principal and Supervisors, The Fitness Oath was administrated by the Principal which was sworn by the staff and students. ‘Khelo India’ song was sung by the students of Physical Education during which football juggling was done by Prabhav Liju of Class X. The assembly ended with awarding medals and certificate to the winners of Inter Class Poster making competition, Gyan Ganga – Inter School Hindi Quiz competition and SOF.
