Indian School Sohar celebrated the Investiture Ceremony, one of the most significant occasions of the school on 25th August 2022. It was a ceremony of great zeal, zest and enthusiasm, when the school entrusted hope, faith and the mantle of responsibility to the newly appointed school cabinet. This ritual signifies the reliance and trust that the school entrusts in the newly appointed office bearers.
The event was graced by the benign presence Mr. Salman Bin Ali Bin Khamis Al Bahrani, Scout Supervisor, The General Directorate of Education in North Al Batinah Governorate, Mr. Hamad Bin Khamis Bin Obaid Al-Fazari, Ms. Thoriya Bint Saeed Bin Ali Al Mamariya, Mr. Khamis Bin Suroor Bin Mubarak Al Balushi and Mr. Ali Bin Mazid Bin Abdullah Al Marzooqui, Principal, Vice-Principal, members of the selection committee, parents, teachers and students.
The deserving young leaders were bestowed with the responsibility of leading from the front with commitment, confidence and competence. The programme commenced with the royal anthem of Oman and the national anthem of India followed by the soulful rendition of the School Prayer.
The members of the selection panel Mr. Yashvir Singh, Vice-Principal, Mr. Lourduraj N S – (HOD, Mathematics), Ms. Indira Sukumaran (Supervisor Middle School and PGT Mathematics), Mr. Rajasekaran A – (HOD, Social Science), Mr. Kamal Gurung (HOD, Physical Education), Ms. Divya Johari (HOD, English), Dr. Bini Das (HOD, Science), Mr. Kuldeep Singh (Faculty Physical Education) were commended for doing an excellent job in selecting the new council members.
Principal Mrs. Sanchita Verma extended a formal welcome to the honourable guests. She also expressed her sincere gratitude to his majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said and prayed for his good health and long life. She thanked the people of Oman for their warmth and hospitality. In her speech, she guided the Student Council Members to be role models and render their responsibilities sincerely as the nation builders of the future. She also advised the students to inculcate the values of empathy, compassion, affection, dedication, and determination as the torch bearers of tomorrow. She congratulated the parents, who proudly witnessed their children being invested with great responsibilities. She also applauded the outgoing Council Members of the previous session for their exemplary functioning during the tough time of the pandemic and endowed them with certificates.
Rohan Suchithran, the School Captain of the previous session, shared his experience, thanked the President and members of the School Managing Committee, Principal, Vice-Principal, teachers and congratulated his team. The newly appointed House In-charges for the Academic Session 2022-23 were formally introduced. The House In-charges are:
Blue House: Ms. Lathifa Begum & Mr. Bijo Joseph
Green House: Dr. Paramjit Oberoi & Mr. Maijo Varghese
Red House: Ms. Omana Krishnan & Mr. Raja Peduru
Yellow House: Ms. Sherly Joseph & Mr. Jermans Alexander
The majestic march of the new Council Members added to the splendour of the event. They were conferred with badges and sashes by the Principal along with the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. The School Council Members along with the House In-charges took the oath, administered by the Principal, to uphold the spirit and integrity of the school and promised to discharge their duties with devotion and honesty without fear or favour taking the school to newer heights and resplendence.

The ceremony came to a glorious end with the vote of thanks which was proposed by Aashna Puri, the School Captain. In each eye was seen an expectation for a better and more positive tomorrow. The ISS family hopes that the Student Council for the academic year 2022-2023 will witness the pinnacle of success and progress in its term.
