“If you want real peace in the world, start with children."                                                                                                                                   - Mahatma Gandhi

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated by the Indians to commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of our nation- Mahatma Gandhi. ABHIVYAKTI, the Cultural Club of Indian School Sohar celebrated Bapu’s  birthday by organizing a special assembly, on 2nd October 2022, with great zeal, enthusiasm, and patriotism. This day is also observed as International Day of Non-Violence.

The assembly began with the offering of a floral tribute to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi by the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma symbolizing respect and honour. This was followed by a prayer song 'Humko Mann Ki Shakti Dena' by the students of Classes VI to VII.  A motivational quote of Gandhiji was highlighted by Ms. Anam, Science faculty Middle Section in an impressive manner.

The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma imbibed the values of Mahatma Gandhi in her dear learners. The students were guided to be true citizens of India by following the path shown by Gandhiji. His method of non-violence inspired many civil rights movements across the world. She reminded the students about the importance of kindness, truth, non-violence, and peace- values that Mahatma Gandhi stood for. She urged the young students to follow the path of non-violence through words and deeds.

Two great personalities of our country share their birthdays on 2nd October. One is the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and the other, the second Prime Minister of our Country, Lal Bahadur Shastri. An evoking poem based on their philosophy, composed, and recited by the Vice-Principal, Mr. Yashvir Singh, transformed the listeners to the era of freedom struggle and left everyone filled with patriotism. The assembly glistened up with the melodious and mesmerizing voices of the Music teachers Ms. Maitrayi and Mr. Mamtaj Hossain Chowdhury, singing Bapu’s favourite bhajan 'Vaishnava Jana To'.

The assembly was well compered by Mr. Brendon Lee, English Faculty, Middle Section. The celebration came to a glorious end with the National Anthem of India.
