Teachers have a great mission to ignite the minds of the young - A P J Abdul Kalam

Devoted to teachers and to remember the crucial role teachers play in moulding students’ lives and careers, every year September 5 is celebrated as Teachers’ Day. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of the great scholar and second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on the same day in 1888.

To appreciate and acknowledge the efforts of the teachers, Indian School Sohar arranged a celebration on the 5th of September in the school Recreation Hall. It started with a floral tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan by Mr. Abraham George, President, School Managing Committee & Members of the School Managing Committee along with the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma. As a tribute to the teaching fraternity, Nanhe se Kadam Lekar, a beautiful song, was rendered by a group of teachers. The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, overwhelmed the audience with an instructional and enlightening presentation. She also appreciated the efforts of the teachers for their innovative practices during online classes.

The teachers of KG to II rocked the stage with a mesmerizing and fantastic dance performance on a beautiful mash-up, Dazzling Divas, which was followed by the Lazy Dance performed by the teachers of III to V, who amused the audience with their selective steps. Ye Sham Mastani, a soothing medley, performed by Abhivyakti, the Cultural Club of ISS truly melted the hearts of many. The last performance was by the gents’ teachers of VI to VIII, who performed a Slo-mo dance which enacted an over of a cricket match in slow motion, which was hilarious and entertaining.  The programme was charismatically anchored by Ms. Indira Sukumaran and Ms. Vidhya Dhanil. Mr. Abraham George, the President of the School Managing Committee, delivered the keynote address applauding the toil of the teachers and reiterated the importance of triumphing more. All the faculty members were honoured with a token of appreciation by the SMC, for their hard work, constructive support, and contribution to the field of education. The Vice-Principal, Mr. Yashvir Singh, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed his sincere gratitude to the School Managing Committee, the Principal, and all the faculty members.  The day ended with a scrumptious dinner.
