CELEBRATION OF THE NATIONAL SPORTS DAY OF INDIA

The Physical Education Department of Indian School Sohar organized a special function on 28th August to mark the National Sports Day of India to commemorate the Birth Day of Major Dhyan Chand, one of the most respected legendary figures in Indian and world hockey,who won gold medals for India in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936.This celebration of sports day is an imperative initiative by the department to highlight the importance of this day, to attract the attention of students and, thereby, to create awareness about the fruitful sides of sports.

There was a special Assembly where the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma addressed the students and directed them to take inspiration from the great sportsman and play a pivotal role in taking our country to the zenith of glory in the arena of sports. Soon after the assembly, “FUN WITH GAMEZ” was organized.  It included various sports activities like football and throw ball, and recreational games like tug-of-war, ring the bottle etc. for the students, teachers and non-teaching staff. On the whole, the celebrations of the day generated a spirit of unity, integrity and enthusiasm – a driving force in the pursuit of success
