The movie starts from the sight of the semi-basement house where the Kim family
lives. They all do not have established jobs to do. One day, an old friend of Kim's son
came to visit the family and he gave a gift to them and it was a scholar’s rock which
plays as a symbol throughout the film. He also came to notify his friend about a job
offer as an English tutor. The next day, he goes for a job interview and now he goes
to the posh side of the town.
